PMGC Pretty in Pink
On Thursday October 8, Pambula Merimbula Golf Club turned pink for their annual Charity Pink Ball Day to raise money for the McGrath Foundation. Unfortunately, the weather kept some entrants away but for those that attended they had an enjoyable day. The Mixed team of Rod Smith, David Hall, Kate Walker and Lisa McBean won that division with 80pts on a count back. The Ladies Division was won by June Williams, Ann Schafer, Kim Helmers and Kerry Seeto who had a tremendous 88pts.
Saturday October 10 saw some excellent Stableford results recorded. After missing Wednesday’s Competition through rain, it was obvious everyone was keen to get back to the golf course. In the Men’s Competition wins were recorded by A grade Ian Ashton with 40pts c/b; B Grade Graeme Curtis with 46pts: C Grade Colin Gould with 37ptsc/b and D Grade Bruce Walker 40pts. The Ladies event was won by Cheryl Ramsay with 35pts.
A new event was launched on Sunday October 11, Merimbula Bowls – Golf Challenge “Bolf”. Pambula Merimbula Golf Club played Club Sapphire. The morning event saw twelve teams of three from each club play a 3 Ball Ambrose at PMGC. The morning session was won by PMGC 11 to 1. After a BBQ lunch the venue was moved to the Sapphire Club for a barefoot triples event. The tables were turned and in fact PMGC failed to win a match. Final Score therefore Sapphire Club 13 defeated PMGC 11. It is hoped that this will become an annual event with PMGC keen to win the trophy next year.
The PMGC Men’s Open is on this coming weekend, October17 &18. Some great prizes are on offer with Lucerne Investment Partners again sponsoring this event. The course is in great condition after the recent rains and we look forward to some excellent scores.
